Kell Brook vs Amir Khan: the long awaited boxing fight

Fans of this sport will experience a fantastic boxing fight tomorrow, Saturday, February 19, between two former world champions: Kell Brook and Amir Khan, who return to the ring after long inactivity and promise to put on a show with their unforgettable skills. The fight will be the main event of the boxing day organized by Boxxer and Top Rank at Manchester Arena, Manchester, Lancashire, United Kingdom.

Kell Brook VS Amir Khan

Kell Brook comes to this fight after approximately 1 year and 2 months of inactivity, being his last fight against Terence Crawford, where he was defeated in a resounding way by knockout in round 4. Kell Brook’s most recognized fight was against Shawn Porter, where he defeated him by majority decision in 2014, and thus crowned as 147 lb champion representing the IBF.

Meanwhile, Amir Khan’s name resonates with the vast majority of boxing fans, as he is a former unified 140 lb (super lightweight) world champion, who has faced fantastic boxers such as Terence Crawford, Canelo Alvarez and Zab Judah.

Kell Brook comes in with a 39-3 record with 27 wins by knockout, however, in addition to his inactivity, he has lost 3 of his last 6 fights, all by knockout. As mentioned above, Brook’s best period was from 2014, when he becomes champion after defeating Shawn Porter, until 2016, where he defends his championship against Kevin Bizier in March, but in September of the same year he decides to move up to the medium peoss (160 lb) and runs into an amazing Gennady Golovkin who not only dominates him from start to finish, but also propels him to a KO where Brook suffers fractures in his orbital bones.

After this injury, Brook takes a good time to recover, and we can say that in his return he was not the same great fighter we knew, and now he struggles between victories and defeats.

Amir Khan has a great decline in his career similar to Kell Brook, being the super lightweight champion until 2015, he decides to move up to 154 lbs (super welterweight) to challenge Canelo Alvarez, Amir Khan vs Canelo was a fight where although Khan showed a good mobility in the first rounds of the fight, Canelo constantly pressured him and annulled his mobility, so much so that in round 6 he gave him a spectacular knockout, from which Khan would last 2 years without fighting and would return with 4 more fights, winning 3 of them.

Amir Khan’s record is 34-5, with 21 wins by KO, and his record reflects great battles against the best in the divisions where he has fought.
