The Russian WBC and IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev will expose his championships this Friday, December 17, when he faces the American Marcus Browne at Bell Center, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in the main fight of the boxing event organized by Top Rank and GYM Promotions.

Artur Beterbiev vs Marcus Browne

Artur Beterbiev comes into this fight as the only reigning champion with a 100% knockout percentage, as he has won his 16 professional fights in this way. He is coming off comfortably beating Adam Deines by knockout in the 10th round, and his record shows wins over good fighters like Oleksandr Gvozdyk, Radivoje Kalajdzic and Callum Johnson.

For his part, Marcus Browne comes in with a 24-1 professional record, with his only loss coming from a technical decision to Jean Pascal caused by an accidental head butt in the eighth round. Browne is the number 1 ranked in the WBC and has also faced good fighters such as Radivoje Kalajdzic, Badou Jack and Jean Pascal himself.

One of the problems that boxing fans normally afflict is that in the light heavyweight division the best fighters do not face each other, but there is no doubt that this fight is of a very high level, where Marcus Browne will have his most difficult rival in the span of his career, and Beterbiev arguably will also face his most demanding title defense.

This fight possibly represents a lot in the division, as the WBA and WBO champions, Dmitry Bivol and Joe Smith Jr, respectively, have a very good boxing level, Bivol has just won a solid win over Umar Salamov and Smith will fight in January 2022 against Callum Johnson. Therefore, it would be the best for boxing if the champions will face each other and unify, since apparently between them and the other ranked there is a notable difference in level.

Beterbiev had slight problems making weight, although he succeeded. Check out the full weigh-in ceremony here.
